Canadian School of Florence Students to Benefit from New Global Citizenship Partnership

SEPTEMBER 2026

Students and teachers at Canadian School of Florence will benefit from new international learning opportunities through a partnership between global education group Globeducate and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA).

Canadian School of Florence is a member of Globeducate, a network of 65+ bilingual and international schools. The partnership will give schools greater access to WFUNA global citizenship programmes, UN-inspired educational experiences and professional development for teachers.

The initiative has now moved into its next phase following Globeducate leaders' attendance at the WFUNA World Congress at the World Health Organization headquarters in Geneva on 26thAugust. The Congress brought together international policymakers, diplomats, academics and civil society representatives to discuss global challenges and international cooperation.

"I am delighted that our students and teachers will benefit from this new partnership, which will take them to the heart of the United Nations and its agencies. This is a global programme across Globeducate schools that will have lasting impact and we look forward to bringing it to life in our classrooms and community at the Canadian School of Florence."

— Jean-Paul Gagnier, Head of School

Opportunities will include WFUNA's Act4Impact programme, helping students explore the UN Sustainable Development Goals and develop projects that can make an impact within their own communities.

Every year, some of our Senior school students, who have been chosen to participate at the MUN event, look forward to meeting their Globeducate network piers for a few days of debate, leadership, and forward thinking. Events like MUN strengthens all of sustainability and global citizenship activities at our school and is something for which we are extremely proud.

In March 2027, around 150 students aged 16–17 from more than 25 Globeducate schools are also expected to take part in a Globeducate Model United Nations event in Geneva, organised in partnership with WFUNA and two Geneva-based education institutions.

The partnership aims to give students opportunities to experience global citizenship in action and develop the skills and perspectives needed to contribute to their communities and wider world.
